This 19-track compilation includes their first two studio excursions, both highly charged frantic and furious affairs, demonstrating The Carpettes to be one of the fastest and finest bands from the early punk era. The Peel sessions show the band developing and experimenting, but remaining true to their roots.
We dug deep and eventually found tapes of The Carpettes first forays into a studio – and what undiscovered gems they were! Having lain there for 20 years, these 10 tracks would have been worthy of a release on their own, but with two unreleased 1978 John Peel Sessions, it seemed the perfect opportunity to provide a definitive history of The Carpettes pre-Beggars Banquet career, when the band were at their punk-rock best.
All versions are previously unreleased, with the added bonus of seven tracks being heard here for the first time. The sleeve contains previously unreleased photos and a detailed history from front man Neil Thompson.
